No doubt that JavaOne is often a huge success compared with the other conferences but will this be the last JavaOne? Last One under the Sun.
It is nearly a week over and by this time we can get a better perspective of the events that took place at JavaOne last week. No doubt there was much speculation on what the effect will be regarding Oracle's acquisition of Sun but from all indications, it did not sober up the proceedings once the sessions were launched and the community attendees forgot about their worries as they behave liked kids in candy stores.
Quite sensibly, it seems that Mr. Ellison has no plans of disrupting the flow of the Java innovation engine and even pointed out that in fact, teaming up with Oracle, R&D will be one of the biggest ever funded. Time will tell how this will all play out even a year in advance to the next JavaOne. Would there be the influx of more mobile Java apps including those for Google Android, JavaFx platform adoption or even gadgets such as netbooks? Now that wouldn't be far-off because come to think of it, if Oracle-Sun can happen, anything quite possibly can.
