Economy Gets Tough on the CIO

Next to the CEO, no other position had been under a lot of pressure than the CIO to deliver results, especially in this tough global economy. Part of this may point to the fact that IT, while holding fort and keeping maintenance services for business, will be more crucial in light of possible personnel cuts. As a result, IT is seen as a savior in stepping in for the forthcoming cuts in resources. But is it really just a case of IT efficiency to be content with just 'maintaining all the lights' during this critical period?
