Job Opening: Web Developer / Designer

Qualifications: There is more that I can say to the kind of person that we're looking to replace our previous developer. Yes, we need an experienced Drupal-savvy web developer who shall work on the back-end and front-end components of this site (and G2iX portfolio of sites). Any body interested in the position should be well versed with the intricacies of this site. And yes, we need that person to be also capable of producing creative design materials.

SaaS e.Camp and DevCon Mindanao Part One

Team G2iX, composed of CEO Winston Damarillo, Jerome Gotangco, Macel Legaspi, Deng Ching, and Aaron Tinio, arrived today in bustling Davao City to partake in various IT events, as part of Davao Innovation Month.

First stop of the day was SaaS e.Camp at SM Davao. "Saas e.Camp highlights a competition where the winning team will receive up to 2 years operating capital from an "angel investor" from Silicon Valley, California - business plans not required."

Countdown to Christmas

34 days to go!

As the BIG DAY draws near, we start to reminisce what had transpired since beginning of 2009. I -- for one -- have been thinking about what the team has accomplished and wondering if we'd done enough. Well of course, the devil (or is it the angel) inside my head would always say: you can never please your boss enough. So -- it's always good to just set standards for yourself -- and maybe, for the team.

The Alpha and Omega of Communities

They say that each one of us has that need to belong. That's right. You -- as a human being -- have a natural tendency to want to become a part of something. Thus the saying, "no man is an island." Outside of our families and loved ones, we have our friends as our next circle. As for the third one ... I'd probably choose the volley folks I play hard volley with every Tuesdays and Saturdays (no pitch here!).

First, let me give recognition to Dilbert.com for inspiring me to come up with a post. It's been a long time :)

Impossible is Nothing

Last weekend, a team of G2iX employees participated in a fun run called "Come Run with M.E". This event was organized by the Ateneo de Manila University Management Engineering (ME) alumni community to celebrate the program's 40th year. I'm sharing some race photos below ...

Open Source Software's Expanding Role in the Enterprise

Forrester Consulting released an interesting report about Open Source adoption in the enterprise a couple of years ago. I stumbled upon this document ... which is really helpful as we're gearing up for our CIO Forums. The subject of the report: Open Source Software's Expanding Role in the Enterprise is pretty much what we'll be talking about in the Open Source segment of our forums.

Keepin' it Real

Yesterday, I was browsing the classified ads to look up our recently posted careers advertisement -- unfortunately, I had the wrong paper. Boo hoo. Anyway, here's a copy of the advertisement --

It's the JOURNEY, not the DESTINATION

The past few weeks have been pretty crazy -- from website scrums to sales collateral production, from CIO Forum preparations to last week's Cebu ICT 2009. Crazy, but tremendously exhilarating. And no matter how carefully we plan our projects, there's always a chance that something will fail. This is not to show dismay, but REALLY it's a given.

Giving back to the community: our plan

In my March in Review post, I mentioned about our mission of fostering tech community involvement.

I haven't had a chance to talk about our plans in detail as I got caught up with a couple more events that demonstrated this undertaking. Now that I have some time on my hands, let me share to you a few ideas which we had underlined:

1) Lightning talks and bar camps - we hosted BarCamp Manila last year
